On the basis of artistic approach and new understanding on Christian education as spiritual formation, the purpose of this article is to develop Christian curriculum for artistic spiritual formation in terms of play. In details, the article is to investigate three major issues related on topics followings. First, in between education for art and education through art, the article tries to take the position of education through art for spiritual formation in terms of play. Thus, the essay emphasizes not only aesthetical experience through art, especially play, but it also names it as “artistic spiritual formation.” Secondly, in order to imagine artistic spiritual formation in terms of play, the article tries to interpret “play” theologically by the theology of beauty, that is, Hans Urs von Balthasar s theological aesthetics and Jürgen Moltmann’s theology of play and trinitarian understanding on “perichoresis.” In the result, the article achieved some new understandings of play as “spiritual senses”(Balthasar) and “perichoresis”(Moltmann). Therefore, finally, the article suggests to apply them into curriculum development for artistic spiritual formation in the process of educational purposes and objectives, selecting and organizing learning experiences about play. Lastly, it also constructs the evaluation strategy for the artistic spiritual formation.
