21세기 새 천년의 시대를 맞이하여 세계는 민족주의와 종교의 평화공존의 시대로 접어들고 있다. 그러나 실상은 지난 반세기가 그러하듯이 영구평화를 보장할 수 있는 정치 철학이 없이 불안한 평화가 계속되고 있다. 여기에 우리는 동학사상에 기초한 한국민족주의의 제3의 길로 냉전논리로 분열되고 있는 민족을 통일하고 나아가 인류의 통합과 평화를 보장할 수 있는 새로운 문명사상(문명사관)을 모색해보는 데 본고의 의미가 있다고 사료된다.

We will examine the unique contribution of Dong Hak Thought in the contemporary era.Todays the Cheondogyo(天道敎) maintains that just the Innaecheon s Thought(人乃天思想) can unify the South and North Koreas, and can be the world thought of future. Consequently we expect that greeting to age of “‘the Civilization from the East(文明東進論)”, the Korean nationalism based on the Donghak Thought with the its own mission for the performance of the Seong(誠, Sincerity), Gyong(敬, respect), and Sin(信, faith) can make the devided nations unify, and disrupted human races integrate, into one body(同歸一體).
