The purpose of this study is to explore the content scope and level of music education at the time by analyzing the characteristics and songs included in the Chˊodŭng Noraechˊaek used for elementary school music education during in the United States Army Military Government Period. To this end, the music education curriculum during this period were reviewed, and the characteristics, repertoire, theme, and musical characteristics of the songs in the Chˊodŭng Noraechˊ aek were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, first, the music curriculum of this period did not provide specific learning contents. Second, Chˊodŭng Noraechˊaek consists of about 20 songs for each grade level and includes themes of ‘Observation of the world around students’, ‘Patriotism for the country’, ‘life as a child’, and ‘people around students’. In addition, all music types were children’s songs composed according to the western music composition method, and the musical elements such as time, length of the song, musical range, and performance types were limited and simple, presented in a hierarchical order by grade.
