The purpose of this study is to bring out an educational discussion on the role of music educators through the examination of several key controversies inherent in AI-based music education. For this purpose, the researcher reviews the ontological issues of AI regarding the evolution of AI technology and the level of consciousness. Furthermore, the researcher examines the debates about artistic creativity and the issues of teacher obsolescence, which are two key arguments related to AI-based music education. As a discussion for expanding the prospect of AI-based music education, the researcher then discusses the key roles of music educators while exploring the essential characteristics inherent in ‘teaching.’ In conclusion, the researcher suggests the understanding and attitude that music educators should be maintaining to accomplish AI-based music education providing an ‘educative’ teaching in music classes.
