영진지역 일돈일묘(一墩一墓) 유형 토돈묘의 조영 모델은 “지면장(地面葬)”과 “퇴갱장(堆坑葬)” 그리고 “점토알갱장(墊土挖坑葬)” 3종으로 구분할 수 있다. 일돈다묘(一墩多墓) 유형의 토돈묘 조영 모델은 “수평식”과 “수직식”으로 구분된다. 조영 모델마다 토돈묘의 성격은 “묘”와 “묘지” 2종으로 구분된다. “수평식”과 “수직식” 조영 모델은 “지면장”, “점토알갱장”과 “퇴갱장”의 종합체로, 영진지역 토돈묘 문화의 내재적 통일성을 반영하고 있다. 토돈묘의 조영 모델은 오지(吳地)선민이 높은 곳에 매장하고 수해를 피하고자 한 현실을 반영한다. 이외에 여러 기의 무덤이 한 돈에 공존하는 장속(葬俗)은 족속을 모아 장례를 치르는 것을 보여주며, 중심무덤의 존재는 당시 사람들이 ‘상중(尙中)’의 관념을 가지고 있음을 나타낸다. 수직식 조영 모델은 영진지역의 주대(周代), 특히 동주시대 사회발전의 배경하에 “취족이장(聚族而葬)”의 새로운 형식으로, 거대한 봉토를 가진 일돈일묘 유형의 토돈묘(土墩墓)와 같이 ‘고총(高塚)’을 추구하던 당시의 사회상을 반영하고 있다.

The existence of the central tomb reflects the concept of worshiping the middle position. The ‘vertical’ construction mode was a new form of burial by gathering the family members under the social development background of the Zhou Dynasty, especially the Eastern Zhou Dynasty in Ningzhen area. It was the same as the ‘one-tomb in one mound’ mound tomb with huge sealing earth, reflecting the funeral concept of ‘high tomb’ pursued by the society at that time.
