This study examined the effects of nature-friendly media applied group art therapy on the emotional intelligence of preschool children. The study target was to sign a parent agreement for 30 preschool children who are 6 years old and attending S preschool in B City, and having no special development problems. From the group of 30 children, researchers selected 16 preschool children whose scores averaged between 125 (±10) in pre-emotional intelligence tests, and dividing them between an experimental and control group. The study was conducted over a 12-week period, twice a week for 50 minutes from June to July 2018. The study tools for measuring emotional intelligence were quantitatively analyzed using emotional intelligence tests and qualitatively analyzed using DAP tests. Results suggested that nature-friendly media applied group art therapy improved the emotional intelligence of preschool children. Awareness and expression of self-emotion, control of self-emotion, utilization of self-emotion, awareness of others emotions, interpersonal skills, all showed significant effects. Also, nature-friendly media applied group art therapy worked on DAP of preschool children. The improved emotional index show that preschool children are effective at recognizing and expressing emotional intelligence. Therefore, group art therapy using nature-friendly media proved to be effective in improving the emotional intelligence of preschool children.
