About one-sixth of high school students enrolled for vocational high school in South Korea. Recently vocational high schools are undergoing difficulties such as a decrease in the number of students apply for vocational track, a fall in the employment rate of the graduate students, a rise in the rate of students who do not decide career. In addition, as university entrance became more common, opinions are often released to propose a transition to an integrated high school system where general education and vocational education are conducted together. There are many difficulties and problems in vocational high schools, but if vocational high schools are integrated with general high schools without attempting to solve these problems, there is a possibility that the existing problems will be repeated. The problem of vocational high school is related not only to the support and management of educational institutes, but also to the status of vocational high school graduates in the labor market. If vocational high school graduates are not respected in the labor market, the number of students applying for vocational high schools will decrease and graduates will try to go to universoty. Strengthening general education and vocational education programs at the high school level can lead to more inclusive education and strengthen the transition to work for students who do not go to university. In this paper, the direction for the development of vocational high school was sought based on the current status of secondary vocational education in South Korea.
