The Ministry of Education promoted the 'school practicum semester system' in 2021 as a way to train future teachers. Since then, several teacher education institutions in Korea have been piloting the semester program. This study utilized the method of action research to understand how the school practicum semester system operational model was developed at H University and the experiences of trainees. For this purpose, data related to the operation of the school practicum semester and data from observations and interviews with trainees were collected and analyzed. Through the research, we identified the learning, growth, and difficulties of the trainees. Based on these findings, we suggested issues that need to be addressed and improved for the successful operation of the school practicum semester.
