This study was conducted to enhance positive parenting behavior and responsibility for parenting and provide an opportunity for parents and children to grow up together by examining the effect of the play coaching-based parent education program on parenting efficacy and parenting behavior. This study targeted 9 mothers, who have school-age children and voluntarily applied for the parent education program of the healthy family support center in D City. The play coaching-based parent education program was conducted for 90 minutes, twice a month and there were total 10 sessions of the collective education program. After the education, home play sessions were performed. Then the subjects shared their related experience and feedback was provided by the researcher. The play coaching-based parent education program was effective in enhancing parenting efficacy, warmth, and receptive parenting behavior. But parental anxiety, logical explanation, and neglecting parenting behavior had no significant differences between the pre-test and the post-test. This finding demonstrates that the play coaching-based parent education program can serve as a preventive parent education program to enhance parent-child relationships and prevent problem behaviors of children.
