This study aimed to understand the experiences and independent living processes that affect the independent living of children who have been terminated from protection in child group homes. The researcher collected data through in-depth interviews with five people living independently following the end of protection, and analyzed the data by thematic analysis using NVivo 10.0. The results showed that the primary experiences of children who ended protection included those involving their family of origin; psychological and emotional states; life stabilization; social workers; public support systems; psychosocial crises; peer support systems; improvement of life management abilities; the expansion of social networks; and adaptation to independent living. These experiences were divided into pre-protection, protection (group home), early independent living, and independent living stages. Based on these results, this study aims to prepare plans for independent living for children in group homes.
