The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of Grit and academic stress on the relationship between mother-rearing stress and child’s school adaptation. The study sample was 1,359 elementary school sixth graders who participated in the 13th wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children(PSKC). The data were analyzed with SPSS 27.0 using Pearson’s correlation and regression analysis. The results are as follows. First, child’s school adaptation were positively and significantly correlated with child’s Grit. Second, child’s school adaptation were negatively and significantly correlated with mother-rearing stress and child’s academic stress. Third, Grit was partially mediated on the relationship between mother-rearing stress and school adaptation. Fourth, academic stress was partially mediated on the relationship between mother-rearing stress and school adaptation. These findings can serve as an important contribution to future research and practices for facilitating child’s school adaptation.
