Sports, in terms of international relations, are closely connected with international politics. Especially since sports organization forms an anarchic political structure in the international society and is in charge of representing the nation, governmental approach and solution may solve difficult tasks in terms of sports interchange. Therefore, sports within international relations are means of communication as the universal language in contacting among the people, and has a positive effect of promoting friendly relations of the people, which reduces war and plays the role of an exit from offense. Therefore, this study aims to examine how sports affect international relations. The specific goals are as follows: first, to examine the concept and history of sports and second, how sports were used in international relations. Third, it was to examine how sports affect international relations in negative and positive sides. As a result, sports in terms of international relations generally have following effects: first, they affect international understanding and peace; second, they enhance the national glory; and third, they act as a diplomatic protest and tool. However, negative effects of sports on international relations in this study are the following: they cause unevenness of international relations, foster negative image of international understanding, and are used as the means of enhancing colonization. On the other hand, positive effects of ports on international relations are the following: they induce dispute prevention and democratic peace, produce the environment to improve international relations, are significant means of foreign policy, and act as a channel for mutual interchange among nations. In order for sports to correspond more effectively in international relations, sports interchange of international sports such as international tournaments and sports science academic contests must be actively induced. Also, relative policy makers, leaders and scholars must direct all their strengths in gathering necessary information that affects international relations due to sports and in learning international sense by constantly participating.
