To solve current leading problems at schools of physical education(SPE), the school physical education promotion law(SPHPL) were enacted on 26 Jan. 2012; and the subordinate laws(enforcement ordinances and detailed regulations) for SPHPL were passed on 5 Feb. 2013. SPHPL and its subordinate laws are operating currently in Korea. School fields and the academic world in Korea are looking forward to normalizing and boosting up the betterment of the SPE status, by forming a stable framework of SPE policy, a SPE-based infrastructure enlargement, a cultural establishment for healthy physical activities, and systemic student fitness and health management, etc. to implement the current laws for SPEP. The purposes in this article are to critically examine its effects through considering the developmental process of SPEPL and its detailed regulations, and, as fellow up, to offer additional materials to help the implementation of them. The rapport to the needs and importance of school physical education promotion is being molded by the setting-up and implementing of the SPEPL. It was legally constructed to continually improve the policies that have been implemented to normalize leading problems in the school field, like poor student’s fitness levels and poor academic achievement of school athletes, etc. Although we have begun implementing the SPEPL, it won’t normalize all the problems in the school physical education field within just a short term, but then, we have to accept that it has a great possibilities for improving many of the current and pressing problems.
