Korea ranks fifth in the world game market after the U.S., Japan, and the U.K., and has the second highest share in the world mobile game market after China, the U.S., and Japan. Many factors worked until such a successful outcome, but the most important of all was the virtuous cycle of game production, success, and the emergence of subsequent games by Korean game developers. However, industrial security issues such as trade secrets and technology leakage, which are the starting points of a virtuous cycle, are not only hampering game development motivation, but also increasing damage to game developers. The smallness of the game industry, the shortening of game life, and the frequent job changes are considered to be more vulnerable to industrial security. In order to present customized industrial security measures in consideration of the peculiarities of the game industry, this paper analyzed the current state of the game industry support system at the government level through data analysis such as the White Paper on Games and the Comprehensive Plan for the Promotion of the Game Industry and classified technology leakage cases in the game industry as internal and external factors and analyzed them to identify security vulnerabilities. Finally, this paper investigated whether game industry-related technology is included in industrial technology under the Industrial Protection Technology Law, and included in the Game Industry Law in order to prevent leakage of game industry technology and strengthen security.
