In the domestic performance-related laws, including the 「Performance Act」, there are currently no regulations on the basis for vitalization and support of the performance industry. Also, there is no legal basis for ‘online performances’ and ‘visualization of performances’, which have become a hot topic recently. In addition, due to the limitations of the organization and functions of the central government department related to performances, and the absence of a dedicated agency for the revitalization and support of the performance industry, the actual performance-related legislation is not playing a proper role in the development and revitalization of the performance industry. Therefore, in this paper, a method to improve the legal system for revitalization and support of the domestic performance industry was studied. From the legal point of view, i) all amendments to the Performance Act, ii) the division of the Performance Act, iii) new regulations related to support for visualization and classification of performances, and iv) new regulations for prohibiting performance recording were proposed. In terms of policy and institutional aspects, it was suggested that i) prepare a system for revitalization and support of the performance industry, and ii) designate an institution in charge of revitalization and support of the performance industry.
