In The purpose of this study is to suggest directions for the development of sports laws and policies by examining the interrelationship between sports and political power. To achieve the purpose of this study, the contents of sports and interrelationships were reviewed. The two-sided relationship between the use of sports by power and the influence of sports on the government was discussed. In addition, the status change of the sports government was analyzed with the focus on the National Sports Promotion Act . The change in sports law was interpreted as the basis for strengthening the influence of sports on the government. Contents of changes in the law were extracted centering on the National Sports Promotion Act, and the meaning of the changes was derived from the reasons for enactment and revision. The scope of the enactment and amendment of the law was limited to the period of acting president of the Moon Jae-in administration, the Park Geun-hye administration, and Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn. The key suggestions derived from these discussions are as follows. Sports and government are complementary. In the past, sports were used to maintain political power, but recently, the demand for sports has led to policy and legal changes. The government must not use sports for future political purposes. Sports have self-reliance and political independence, but should contribute to national development only as a resource for management. In reality, sports-related people and the people who use sports voluntarily demand the establishment of policies to enjoy sports themselves, and the government should actively accept them.
