The rapid growth of the e-sports industry has raised various regulatoiy and governance issues, exposing many stakeholders, especially vulnerable young participants, to potential risks. This study highlights and proposes the need for an effective governance and policy framework to address major issues within the e-sports ecosystem. Based on corporate governance frameworks, it presents recommendations for improving industry-specific governance in this domain. Specifically, the study proposes an integrated policy process for building and executing a robust and flexible governance system through deep engagement and collaboration among stakeholders. Based on this, directions for future research related to the governance of sports and the governance needs of e-sports institutions in a rapidly changing environment are derived.
