We compare five Christian counseling models introduced by Johnson and Kim and try to find an optional approach for the integration of Christianity and self psychology via considering main concepts of self psychology, which are self and self-pathology. The five views are Biblical counseling, Christian psychology model, transformational psychology, integration model, and a levels-of-explanation (parallel) model. Dealing some specific topics, we name the three models as integrational models for a convenience. Analyzing the concept of self in the perspectives of self psychology and the five Christian counseling models, we address that human self is the agent of God and this is the human perspective on which Christian counseling theory shall be established on. When integrating self psychology and Christianity, we first scrutinize and translate foundational concepts which are not consistent with Christianity, and then correlate its many practical and clinical concepts of self psychology.
