본 연구는 이야기 코칭이라는 개념을 새롭게 소개하고, 이야기 코칭을 통한 정체성 변화의 가능성을 성경 속 에스더와 모르드개의 이야기를 통해 분석해 보는 데 목적을 갖는다. 최근 상담 및 임상 현장에서의 코칭적 접근은 한 개인의 문제 해결에서 한 걸음 더 나아가 내면의 성장을 추구하는 데 활발히 활용되고 있다. 그중에서도 이야기 코칭은 ‘인간은 이야기하는 존재’라는 인식론을 바탕으로, 인간 존재에 대해 지속적인 물음을 던지는 과정 속에서 건강한 정체성의 통합을 지향해 가는 데 초점을 맞춘다. 즉, 이야기 코칭을 통해 다원화된 사회 속에서 경쟁과 갈등에 의해 파편화된 정체성이 화해와 조화를 추구해 나가는 정체성으로의 변화될 수 있다는 것이다. 본 연구는 이야기 코칭을 통한 정체성의 변화를 에스더의 이야기 속에서 분석해 보고, 이러한 변화를 이끌어 내는 코칭에서의 코치의 역할을 모르드개의 이야기를 통해 분석해 보았다.
This research aims to newly introduce the concept of narrative coaching and analyze the possibility of identity change through narrative coaching through the biblical stories of Esther and Mordecai. Recently, coaching–based approach in counseling and clinical sites are actively being utilized in promoting inner growth, from the conventional aim of resolving personal issues. Specifically, narrative coaching focuses on aiming for healthy integration of identity amongst the process of casting continuous questions regarding the human existence, based on the epistemology that ‘humans are narrative creatures.’ This means that narrative coaching can induce changes in identity; from shattered one firmly social competition and conflict to harmonious and united identity. This research analyzes the change of identity via narrative coaching from the Esther story and studies the role of the coach in coaching when inducing such changes from the Mordecai story.
