The purpose of this study is to have profound understanding of pastor’s perceptions, motives, and expectations on psychological counseling through qualitative case study. This study analyzed psychological difficulties, motives, and expectations that pastors experience as a client and also studied the needs of counselling for pastors through in–depth interviews with three pastors, who had no previous counseling experiences. Through in and between case studies, we found that there are something in common and differences in perceptions and motives of pastors in receiving counselling. First, there was a difference in how much pastors’ were motivated to get counselling depends on the strength of need toward professional counselling assistance coming from the understanding of human as imperfect. Finally, pastors’ were hesitant to seek for counseling due to fear of being judged by the congregation and fail to glorify God. By exploring multiple perspectives and dilemmas of pastors as a person and as a servant of God through pastor’s experiences, this study provides academic and clinical knowledge on counselling for pastors.
