This study was examined to understand the meaning of familly and happiness experiences of the single-parent family. The data were collected by in-depth interviews with six single mothers and analyzed by Giogri's phenomenological research method(1985). The data were analyzed for focusing on the participants’ unique experiences. As a result of the analysis, 26 central meanings, 18 revealed themes, and 7 essential themes were derived. The essential themes were 'there is a desire to start one's own family due to the relationship with the negative original family', 'the decision to become a single-parent family was the result of difficulties in marriage, justifiable and the best choice', 'Experiencing ambivalent emotions and social perspectives, gradually adapting to single-parent famil es', 'After becoming a single-parent family, understanding the original family and re-establishing the relationship', 'The meaning of a child is the reason for my existence and life', 'The meaning of parents is a caregiver with a great sense of responsib l ty and loneliness', and 'Believing that a happy family should have respect and trust'. The significance and limitations of the study, and the necessity of intervention were discussed.
