본 연구는 디지털 전환이라는 사회 변화와 다문화 사회로의 진입이라는 두 가지 흐름이 한국 사회의 다문화교육에 미치는 영향을 문헌 분석을 통해 고찰하고, 이에 따른 교육적 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 국내외 학술논문, 학위논문, 정책 보고서 등을 주제별로 체계적으로 분류 및 정리하였으며, 분석 결과를 바탕으로 교육적 접근의 가능성과 한계를 검토하였다. 그 결과, 디지털 기술은 이주민의 적응과 학습 지원, 다문화 이해 증진에 긍정적 역할을 하면서도, 디지털 격차와 온라인 공간에서의 차별·혐오 확산과 같은 부정적 영향도 야기함을 확인하였다. 또한, 본 연구는 기존 동화주의적 접근의 한계를 지적하고, 비판적 다문화주의 및 디지털 리터러시, 공간적 시민성의 관점에서 실천적인 교육 전환의 필요성을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 특히 사회과 수업에서 다문화교육과 디지털 전환을 접목시키기 위한 교육적 함의를 제공한다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다.
This study aims to explore the educational implications of two major transformations in Korean society: digital transformation and the transition toward a multicultural society. Through a qualitative analysis of relevant literature—including academic journal articles, dissertations, and policy reports—this research categorizes and examines key discussions surrounding multicultural education and digital transformation. The analysis reveals that digital technologies can play a positive role in supporting immigrant adaptation, facilitating learning, and enhancing multicultural understanding. However, it also highlights negative effects such as the digital divide and the spread of prejudice and discrimination in online spaces. This study critiques the limitations of assimilationist approaches and emphasizes the need for a shift toward educational practices rooted in critical multiculturalism, digital literacy, and spatial citizenship. It offers significant implications for integrating multicultural education and digital transformation within social studies classrooms.
