As the rate of the elderly population is increasing and concern for the enhancement of the Quality of life for the elderly is growing, sexuality of the elderly will be an important part of nursing aspects. We have been forbidden to talk about sexuality in the past but now the tendency is to talk about it openly and positively. Nurses who pursue holistic nursing care do not have to ignore or avoid the issue of sexuality of the elderly, because the elderly have sexual needs. We have to discard the thought that the elderly are asexual and that sexuality of the elderly is repulsive. Nurses must look for sexual dysfunction whichoccurs in the elderly, and help to solve the problem of sexual dysfunction through effective intervention. In order to perform those functions, nurses have to acquire knowledge about nursing intervention and the strategies which are necessary to solve the problems of the change of sexual response, sexual dysfunction, and chronic illness which affects sexual function. In addition, nurses have to understand the overall concept of sexuality.
