This study investigates educational opportunities for older adults in Korea and aboard. It suggests the strategies to involve older people in adult educational programs. Even though the elders do not produce direct economic growth, they are a valuable resource for the development of our society. They own wisdoms and experiences to contribute to the society. They have educational needs for self-actualization and growth to remain as a group that contributes to the society and family. However, there are several barriers that hinder the involvement in older adult educational programs. Myths of the society toward the learning ability of older people are the biggest obstacle to the participation of older adults. Also shortage of the programs for older adults is another barrier to participation. Based on the educational opportunities for older adults abroad, the study suggests to open programs for older to utilize public school system and universities, to establish independent older learning center.
