The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of emotional
purification program intervention on self-esteem and self-control of low-income
families' children. The contents of emotional purification program were developed
in terms of social skills training program, self-determination program, mandala
therapy series, impulse control game and so on. The program was operated of
total 47 sessions (40 minutes per each group) in Community Child Center A, B,
and C for 12 months. To analyze of the data, basic information about the 22
children's gender (male and female), school (elementary and middle school), and
residence is presented by the number and the ratio. And, to investigate the
homogeneity of the group of children about gender and school was tested by the
t-test. Then, t-tests were performed to investigate the difference between
pre-test and post-test on their self-esteem and self-control. Finally, to evaluate
the children's satisfactions on the emotional purification program, by converting
the frequency response was presented as a percentage. The results indicated
that the emotional purification program intervention was effective in facilitating
the self-esteem and self-control of all children of low-income families. Specially
girls group of middle school was found to be effective on the self-esteem and
self-control. But, in case of 4 boys, there was no significant difference in that.
Finally, all children who attended at last session revealed high levels of
satisfaction. In conclusion, the necessity of contiguous support for low-income
families' children has been proposed in this study.
