This study is made a plan to improve Problematic Behavior and Communicational-Self in Selective
Mutism Child by Non-Directive Art Therapy. The Objective child is a Selective Mutism little girl, 7 ages,
the 1st grade in elementary school. A period of treatment is from March, 2011 to February, 2012 and 5
staged a total of 40 sessions Non-Directive Art Therapy is performed, once a week for 50 minutes. Pre &
post test is used and compared by Child Behavior Checklist(K-CBCL), Communicational-Self Expression
(C-SE), Tree Drawing(TD), Keinetic School Drawing(KSD), Keinetic Family Drawing(KFD). Result of this
study is as follows. First, Communicational-self in Selective Mutism child is improved by Non-Directive Art
Therapy. Second, Problematic Behavior in Selective Mutism child is improved by Non-Directive Art Therapy.
Therefore, this study proves that Non-Directive Art Therapy is an effective intervention to improve
Problematic Behavior and Communicational-Self in Selective Mutism Child. This study is only one case and
so limited to generalize.
