This research was to identify the categories of students with conduct disorder in regular middle
schools, to understand each teacher’s handling measures against conduct disorder of the
students, and to explore the educational interventions of individual teacher as well as the middle school dealing with students with conduct disorder. It would provide a basic set of informational sources for a proper educational service and a preventive-action program for the
society’s antisocial behavior toward the students with conduct disorder. For this research, 95
classroom teachers were randomly drawn from 10 of the middle schools located in Suwon and
the nearby regions of the city. Data were collected by using the questionnaire. 108 classroom
teachers were responded and 95 surveys were analyzed.
Major findings of this study are as the followings: First, the middle school student population
has three times as many as female students with the disorder as there are male students with
the disorder, and the subjected population showed two or more disorder behaviors out of the
four types of behavior - showing threatening aggressiveness, damaging property, breaking laws, even hoaxing and/or stealing. Next, the majority of the teachers utilized the “passive-coping method” which instructs them to take an interest with the students’ surroundings and school lives. Thirdly, most teachers believed in the necessity of “self-control” plan – an individual, educational intervention plan. Fourth, they claimed that as for school’s strategies, “creating behavior-action team to execute” and having “an enforcement, a professional organization, for the teachers” are most needed. Ergo, not only the teachers’ instructional strategy of the interventions is preferred, the schools’ instructional strategy of various educational interventions to create educational instructions for the conductive disorder student is needed also; it is necessary to create a chance for in-service education and to plan a general strategy to understand the conductive disorder and to prevent their problematic actions.
