This study investigates the knowledge sharing process in a small group which shares a common work oriented goal. The knowledge sharing process and major variables influencing the process are identified using qualitative analysis of data collected from observations, interviews and a group project performance. To collect observation data, weekly project meetings were video-taped in every three weeks during twelve week research period. Verbal interactions among group members in the meetings along with the group outputs that generate the WBI(Web-Based Instruction) knowledge-base category were recorded and analyzed. Furthermore, major variables influencing on group knowledge sharing process were identified through in-depth interviews with all group members. In this study, the knowledge sharing model was proposed by combining the knowledge sharing process and influential variable on it. The model is made up of three stages; the \'input\' stage where the shared goal is inserted, the \'collaboration\' stage where the knowledge is shared, and the \'output\' stage where the inter-subjectivity is formed. The variables that influence the knowledge sharing process are summarized into three dimensions. First, the individual dimension with four factors: 1)personal characteristics, 2)awareness of knowledge sharing, 3)recognition of oneself in the knowledge sharing group, and 4)ability of acquiring knowledge and representation skills. Second, the group dimension of three factors: 1)group characteristics, 2)the facilitation skill of a facilitator, and 3)the effects of the evaluation and compensation. Lastly, the environmental dimension with three factors: 1)shared information, 2)time and place factors, and 3)knowledge sharing channel.
