This study has the purpose to provide visually impaired persons with high quality
services of activity assistance by identifying the job satisfaction of visually impaired
activity helper, and enhance and cultivate the expertise of service providing work
force by improving their work conditions.
As for study subjects, 160 persons were selected as subjects from among the
individuals who are affiliated with activity assistance service providing organizations
in Daegu Gyeongbuk region and servicing as activity helper for visually impaired
before and after the change of activity assistance service system through telephone
interviews with the staffs in charge of human resources in the relevant organizations.
Also, questionnaire survey was conducted on the subjects with the use of questionnaire
sheet specifically designed for them, and after the questionnaire sheets of totally 126
copies(79%) were collected, the collected data were statistically processed with the
use of SPSS 19.0 software.
In summary, the following conclusions were reached:
First, as for the degrees of job satisfaction of the activity helpers for visually
disabled by gender, male group was found higher than female group in average after
change of welfare system, and depending on age, job satisfaction differed before and
after change of welfare system. As for marital status, job satisfaction was found higher
in unmarried group before and after change of welfare system, and the factor of
education background did not affect job satisfaction. Depending on affiliated organizations,
job satisfaction differed before and after modification, and as for income level, groups
with income level below minimum were found high in job satisfaction before and after
change of welfare system. Regarding work period, visually impaired activity helpers
who worked for less than 2 years were higher than those who worked for 2 years
or longer in job satisfaction after change of welfare system.
Second, as for the factors that affect the job satisfaction of visually impaired activity
helpers among work characteristics(work importance degree), organization characteristics
(compensation, employee capability development opportunity and leadership)and personal
characteristics(sense of self efficacy), leadership was found the highest.
Third, as for the difference between the job satisfactions of visually impaired activity
helpers before and after change of welfare system, job satisfaction after the change
was found higher.
