The purpose of this study is to develop a science learning program, \'my creative
thermometer\', for the gifted in elementary science classes. This program is designed for
students to research on scientific concepts such as temperature and heat. Based on the
enrichment triad model of Renzulli, the program consists of five lessons;「Thermometer, I want
to know about you」, 「The volume change of gas and liquid by temperature」,「Up and
down by temperature」,「Changing colors by temperature」,「Presentation of my creative
thermometer」. The program was piloted on a total of 20 students from gifted science classes
attending local elementary schools near M elementary school. The results were as follows; (1)
This program is appropriate for the study of physical changes of phase, density and color by
temperature through developing various thermometers. (2) Through this program, students
learned concepts of heat and temperature. (3) This program contributed to the students\' science
processing skills by developing the thermometer, planning their experiment to measure
temperature, and putting this into practice. (4) Students experienced real research activities
through developing and presenting their creative thermometers.
