The purpose of this study was to examine by research about the problem and improvement
method in which way experiential learning in the amusement parks was provided and how
teachers looked at the experiential learning. And it\'s also meant to determine what they
expected from experiential learning materials for amusement parks in an effort to develop
efficient learning materials.
The subjects in this study were 92 secondary school science teachers from Seoul and its
adjacent areas, on whom a survey was conducted. After the collected data were analyzed, the
following findings were obtained:
Most of the teachers investigated had no experience to provide experiential learning about
amusement parks. and regarded experiential learning as a means of entertainment without
linking it to academic education. they expected experiential learning to affect students\' interest
in science and their scientific inquiry abilities and to intensify the effect of academic education.
But they found it difficult to plan on that due to a lack of proper learning materials and
programs. therefore Experiential learning materials and programs should urgently be prepared.
After surveying what the teachers wanted from amusement park experiential learning, an
appropriate learning model and basic direction was constructed, focusing on intensifying
students\' scientific interest and inquiry abilities.
The developed materials were supplemented after testing their applicability by paying a visit
to an amusement park, and their content validity was verified by middle school science teachers.
This study suggests the ways to make the best use of amusement parks, so teachers needed
a change of mind-set, and it\'s required to make learning materials and programs and facilitate
information exchange.
