The Purpose of this study is to verify the impacts of economic stress among
occupational military personnels on the intimate partner violence(IPV), and the mediating
effects of depression among them. For this study, 332 occupational military personnels
were surveyed from Air Force Units. The results of this study are as follows: First, owing
to the long period of economic recession, the economic stress which occupational military
personnels subjectively perceive was high. Second, 34.9 per cent of the subjects inflict
verbal aggression against their wives and 16.6 per cent of the subjects batter their wives
during past 12 months. Third, the economic stress of the surveyed impacts on the IPV
positively, depression mediates the relation from economic stress to IPV as well. Based
on these findings, implications to prevent and intervene in the IPV of occupational
military personnels are suggested.
