Baby boomers have started to retire with full scale since 2010 in Korea. The retirement has emerged as an biggest issue because the extension of life expectancy provides an aging society more longer lifetime after retirement. Due to the extension of the average life span, the life time after retirement, which is more than a quarter of whole life span, is to be regarded as ‘Second Life’ and emerges as an important part of life. This study is to understand the retirement in multi-lateral approaches and to provide the direction for Christian counselling for retirees. In this study, the Biblical meaning of retirement and the successful and failed later part of lives of the people in the Bible were investigated. Also this study investigated how to achieve self-integration and live meaningful life in old age after retirement in terms of Erickson’s psychosocial developmental stage and how to actualize individualization as in Jungian psychology. Lastly, it looked into the application of Christian counseling to help the retirees adapt to retired life.
