본 연구는 우리나라의 아동·청소년이 건강한 사회구성원으로 성장하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있도록 이들이 발달적 측면에서 영향요인을 탐색적으로 확인하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 일반적으로 발달은 환경과의 상호작용에 있다는 것이 대부분의 학자들의 공통된 의견이며, 이에 따라 학령기 아동의 주요 발달환경이라고 할 수 있는 가정환경, 또래환경, 학교환경 의 3가지 영역에서 살펴보았다. 또한 이러한 환경과 이 시기의 주요 발달과업인 지적발달 과 정서적 발달과의 관계를 살펴보는 데 중점을 두었다. 연구 결과는 긍정적인 발달을 유 도하기 위한 바람직한 양육태도나 교육방식이 정해져 있다기보다는 이러한 발달환경을 제 공하는 부모나 교육담당자가 아동에 대한 상호이해를 바탕으로 일방향이 아닌 쌍방향적 상 호작용을 통해 능동적인 발달을 유도해야함을 시사하고 있다.
This study aimed to investigate the determinants of child development in order to contribute to their healthy and sound growth to mature society members. It's a common view among researchers that the development can be achieved via interaction with the environments. Thus, the study focused on three major environments of school age children: Home, Peer Group, and School. And their relationships with intellectual and emotional developments that are main developmental tasks of school age children were empirically analyzed. The findings of the study implied that there is no right answer to the question that how we could help our children build their developments desirably. Fortunately, parents and teachers can alter the environments surrounding children in a better way only by two-way active interaction with children based on mutual understanding.
