This study aimed to investigate the determinants of child development in order
to contribute to their healthy and sound growth to mature society members. It's a
common view among researchers that the development can be achieved via
interaction with the environments. Thus, the study focused on three major
environments of school age children: Home, Peer Group, and School. And their
relationships with intellectual and emotional developments that are main
developmental tasks of school age children were empirically analyzed. The
findings of the study implied that there is no right answer to the question that
how we could help our children build their developments desirably. Fortunately,
parents and teachers can alter the environments surrounding children in a better
way only by two-way active interaction with children based on mutual
understanding.
