In this study, an Social Group Work centered attempt has been made to reflect various kinds of
existing model for intervening in family violence in organizing programs in order to change one's mind
and prevent battering behaviors of assailant. In order to do so, group programs for total fifty hours for 10
family violence assailant have been conducted. As a research method, Disfunction Attitude Scale, perception
of violence have been measured prior to and after group intervention, and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, A
non parametric statistical analysis method, has been applied to examine the differences. Main results of this
study are follows: First, 7 of family violence assailants who participated in the cognitive theraphy centered
group programs have written the felling after completion of programs. According to their reports make us
know the fact that are repentance and changing on improvement about their problem. Second,
unfunctional attitude of depress of family violence assailants who participated in the cognitive theraphy
centered group programs improved meaningfully in statistical aspect comparing with those prior to group
intervention. As a result of evaluation points compared between those prior to and after the program,
average points have been increased by 4.69 in the aspect of unfunctional attitude and by 7.17 in the
aspect of perception of violence The results of study as stated above prove that group programs are useful
for positive change toward disfuctional attitude and perception of violence and state of depress of family
violence. Suggestions are hereby made to practice therapeutically on the basis of the research results
