The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a career decision-making training program on the
career maturity of teen-aged school dropouts. A research question was posed: Do school dropouts who
participate in a career decision-making training program show a more significant improvement in career
maturity than other school dropouts who don't? The subjects in this study were 18 adolescents who gave
up their studies and dwelled in South Jeolla Province. An experimental group and a control group were
randomly made up of nine students each. A program was implemented from April 10 to May 23, 2012,
and a pretest and a post test were conducted using a career maturity inventory. To address the research
question, the statistical package SPSS WIN 15.0 was employed, and t-test were carried out. The findings
of the study were as follows: The school dropouts who participated in the career decision-making training
program made a more significant progress than the other school dropouts who didn't in competency,
behavior and attitude among the subfactors of career maturity. Finally, the educational implications of the
findings of the study were discussed.
