In this study, we have investigated the effects of group art therapy on psychological or physiological
depression for university students according to color(light) environment of art therapy space. The light(color)
environment of art therapy space was changed by using light-emitting diodes(LED) lightings which have
different correlated color temperatures(CCT) of 6500K or 2900K. The results showed that the group art
therapy, conducted under the light(color) environment having CCT of 6500K as well as 2900K, reduced
the depression value of the university students. Furthermore, the group art therapy, conducted under the
light(color) environment having CCT of 6500K, released psychological depression effectively, meanwhile it
could reduce the average value of the physiological depression though it was not statistically meaningful.
However, the group art therapy, conducted under CCT of 2900K, effectively released the physiological
depression, meanwhile it could reduce the average value of the psychological depression though it was not
statistically meaningful. These results can be attributed to that the light(color) environment having CCT of
6500K may cause ‘psychology with introverted tendency’, meanwhile color(light) environment having CCT
of 2900K may cause ‘psychology with extroverted tendency’.
