The discipleship training has considerable influence to wake Korean church upon. It may be a blessing that church has accepted the bible study and following up system which has trained at only missionaries, trained and awoke the layman who is sleeping giant to participate in the mission. Churches that had accepted discipleship training program as the ministry philosophy and had grown, has begun to appear. It is required correct the conception and theological understanding to apply discipleship training program. So this study will observe the importance of discipleship training program to awake sleeping layman. Why is discipleship training necessary? It is the reason that Jesus has showed the example by making disciples and training them. Fur thermore He commanded categorical imperative as his last words when he is resurrected and ascended to heaven. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.(Matthew 28:19~20)” We don't have the right to obey or not, whoever believe in Jesus and follow him must obey this imperative. And Lord teaches the best way of ministry to the pastors. That is to be a disciple and to make a disciple. Although his disciples ware immature, Jesus dispatched his disciples before his ascension to heaven, declaring “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.( John 20:21)” After the Pentecost, Apostles did their task of discipleship training by devoting their all life according to Jesus's training example. Peter did his mission. Paul told Timothy “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” Paul mentioned essential matter which is concerned with the reason why pastors is called by Lord. The reason is the mission to equip of the believers. In this verse, the word of equip means to militarize soldiers by equipping them all the equipments and training them necessary all skills. What is the priority mission of church and pastor? It is not only pastoral duty but also equipping ministry of them. The method to equip layman is possible through only discipleship training. It is the necessity and justifiability of discipleship training. To leave layman is dereliction of duty. We should stand layman up as the hero of the great mission that can declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light as a royal presthood. The present writer firmly believes that discipleship training is the best way of ministry that Jesus taught us. And discipleship training is the shortcut of the church growth. So we should not be lazy to awake layman, to equip them and stand them as partners of mission. The matter is the fact that pastor must be a faithful disciple and make a disciple first of all. And disciple is never born, disciple is made from training. If we sublate the course work that is consisted with education and completion, and carry out continuous training, we firmly believe that the categorical imperative will be achieved. So, I convict that the kingdom of God will be expanded if all the churches of Korea realize this fact, obey the Lord's command, and continue to do discipleship training concentrating each person.
