한국인 10대 암 중 대장암은 2000년대에 들어와서는 식생 활의 변화와 함께 급증하는 경향을 보여 대장암의 발생률과 사망률이 점차 증가하는 추세이다. 국내에서 2007년 대장암 은 모든 암 중 남성의 경우 4위, 여성의 경우 3위이다(Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, 2008). 대장암은 조기 발견이 중요한데 대장 질환을 조기 진단하는 정확한 검사의 하나인 대장내시경 검사는 내시경이 빠른 시 간 내에 안전하게 맹장까지 도달해야 하고 또 세밀하게 점막 관찰을 해야 하는 검사이다. 그러나 많은 사람들이 내시경 삽 관에 따르는 시술 시의 고통과 불편함으로 대장내시경 등 내 시경검사를 받는 환자들은 불안이 크다(Baek, 1996; Park, 2000)
The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of aroma oil inhalation using lavender mixed with bergamot, and sandalwood oil in the ratio of 3:2:1 to the anxiety of colonoscopy patients. Method: The research design was a nonequivalent control group pre-post time experimental research. The data were collected from December, 2004 to March 2005. The total subjects were 60 patients who received colonoscopy at K-hospital in Chuncheon City. An aroma oil inhalation group inhaled for 10 min the mixed aroma oil, 3 drops of which were dropped on the gauze, 20 min before colonoscopy. Result: The anxiety of the intervention group was significantly lower than that of the control group (p=.001). The degree of systolic blood pressure on the intervention group was significantly lower than that of the control group (p=.031). There was no significant difference between the 2 groups in the diastolic pressure (p=.065). Pulse has no significant difference between the aroma oil inhalation and control group (p=.546). Conclusion: The result showed that aroma oil inhalation before colonoscopy has an effect on decreasing anxiety. Thus, the intervention with aroma oil inhalation can be used for relieve anxiety of patients for colonoscopy.
