The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of integrated art activities using ARCS
motivational strategies on the drawing representation ability of young children.
The subjects of the study were 30 young children aged 5, and equally divided into the
experimental group and the control group. The experimental group did integrated art activities using
ARCS motivational strategies 1 time a week, on the other hand, the control group did general art
activities related to life themes.
The study indicated that the drawing representation ability of the experimental group performed
integrated art activities which used ARCS motivational strategies was more enhanced than the control
group which performed general art activities related to life themes.
The results imply that integrated art activities using ARCS motivational strategies positively
influence the improvement of the drawing representation ability of young children. Therefore, teachers
in the early childhood education field needs to apply integrated art activities using ARCS
motivational strategies as it can be an effective teaching-learning method for improving the drawing
representation ability of young children.
