This paper is a translation and a commentary for chapter 10 and chapter 11 in Tao-te-ching from the viewpoint of Lao-tsu's ontological structure. The summary of Lao-tsu's Ontological structure as I understand it is as follows : Tao(active, far-reaching, cyclical in its motion) → Nothingness(Empty energy) → Reality(Yin energy-earth, Yang energy-heaven) → Everything(empty energy + yin energy + yang energy). Lao-tsu's ontology has this directional property
mentioned above. Even if Everything goes in this direction, The Lao-tsu said, its velocity had better be eased down. And he emphasizes Yin energy and Empty energy more than Yang energy which many people think of as very important. In chapter 10, the viewpoint that It is good to stay without haste if possible have been expressed, for the very time when Nothingness transforms itself into Reality is vest moment. In order to illustrate this point, Lao-tsu asks a person the question whether Nothingness can exist in several conditions. And he says that if anyone can accomplish three antitheses he has realized profound virtues. In chapter 11, the importance of Empty energy has been emphasized with several examples. The examples are usefulness of wheels, bowls and rooms. Lao-tsu indicates that Empty place is
invisible power axis to make wheels roll and to enable bowls and rooms to exist. In conclusion, Lao-tsu indicates the mistaken general tendency that most people think highly of Yang energy. So Lao-tsu hopes to reveal Yin energy and the values Nothingness.
