본 연구에서는 어머니의 성취동기와 양육행동 그리고 유아의 자아개념 간의 관계를 종합 적으로 파악하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 경상북도 J시와 P시의 유아교육기관 3곳에서 임의 표집된 만 4, 5세 유아 201명과 그들의 어머니들이다. 어머니들은 자신의 성취동기와 양육행 동을 묻는 질문지에 자기보고로 응답하였으며, 담임교사들이 교사들의 유아의 자아개념을 1:1로 면접한 후 평정하였다. 자료 분석을 위해 SPSS 12.0 패키지를 이용하여, 빈도분석, t-검 증, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과로는 어머니의 성취동기 수준에 따른 어머니 양육 행동의 차이(t=-7.144, p<.001)와 유아의 자아개념의 차이(t=-3.870, p<.001)가 각각 유의하였으 며 어머니 양육행동수준에 따른 유아의 자아개념 차이(-7.601, p<.001)가 유의하였다. 그리고 어머니 성취동기와 양육행동이 유아의 자아개념에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 다중회귀 분석에서 성취동기와 양육행동 두 변수가 유아의 자아개념을 약 45%설명하는 것으로 나타 났고, 이들 중 양육행동 변수의 영향력이 상대적으로 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결 과는 유아의 자아개념에는 이 두가지 변수가 모두 영향력이 있지만 양육행동의 중요성이 우 선적임을 나타내고 있어 어머니 양육행동의 영향력과 효과적인 양육행동을 돕는 기술지원 의 필요성이 좀 더 인식될 필요가 있다, 이후 유아의 자아개념을 설명하는 어머니의 심리적 변수로서 성취동기와 구체적 행동변수로서 양육행동의 의의가 논의되었다.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among preschool mothers' acheivement motivation, parenting and their children's self concept, The subjects for this study were 201 mothers whose children, 4-6 years of age, are enrolled in 6 kindergartens in Gyounsang-do. Mothers completed questionnaires reporting their achievement motivation and parenting. And teachers completed questionnaires evaluating children's self-concept. Data was analyzed by frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis through SPSS 12.0 The findings of the study are as follows: There is a significant difference of mothers' parenting and children's self-concept according to the ‘level of mothers' achievement motivation respectively. There is a significant difference of children's self-concept according to the levels of mothers' parenting. And children's self concept significantly influenced by two factors: parenting and achievement motivation in order. In conclusion, it is necessary to encourage mothers' good parenting to support their children's selp concept. And several devices for developing mothers' parenting were discussed.
