This paper describes the Harris model of preschool education in molding the mind and character of young
children, including the development of empathy. It identifies programs, activities, projects and advocacy efforts
being done by Harris Memorial College that will lead to the development of empathy of young children. This is
needed in the promotion of a better quality of life and a better future for all. It also presents four strands that run
through the Harris model of preschool education. This paper may provide some valuable insights on how to
mold the mind and character of young children, including the development of empathy, and what programs,
activities and advocacy efforts that would help further develop the children’s mind, character and empathy for
the common good of all.
