The purpose of this study was to analyze the traditional culture included in school textbooks. The results of the study was as follows; First, traditional culture is treated as something trivial. In most subjects pages alloted to traditional culture are of small quantity. The reason is that curriculum organization is based on western academic knowledge. Second, various elements or dimensions of traditional culture are taught having no correlation with others. As a result meaning and structure of readitional culture can not be taught. Third, the approach to traditional culture is so superficial that it can not help to understand unique life style of ancestors and the meaning structure underlying it.
