영문초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze three humanistic education theories ① CD Liberal humanistic education theory ② Romantical humanistic education theory ③ Confucian humanistic education theory and their relation The liberal humanistic education theory is a western traditional one originated from Greece. This theory stresses a human reason ability and truths involved reason in the Idea, God, the natural law, cultural heritages for human being. This theory encourages a rational and spiritual living be distant from urges, instant needs. This theory is represented by Platon, Aristotle, Aquinas, Hutchins, Peters, Hirst. But this theory is blamed for an elitism, authoritarianism and rationalism. The romantical humanistic education theory is a western alternated one with liberal humanistic one from Rousseau. This theory stresses a free expression of human natural feelings needs and drive for human being. Natural goodness, self-actualization, sensitivity, freedom are main concepts of this theory. J.Dewey's laboratory school and A.S. Neill's Summer hill was famous school according to new humanism. J.Holt, W.Glasser, J.Kozol, C.E.Silberman, H.Kohl, N.Postman, C.Weingarter G.Leonard, and C.Rogers are modern romantic humanist. But this theory neglects a spiritual living and traditional wisdoms. Confucius is the founder of a Confucian humanistic education theory emphasizes jen(仁) and its harmonized expression for human being. In Confucius, jen is a public heart. Jen is feeling, need accord with reason. Jen is expressed as a Li(禮) through chung shu(忠恕). Jen gets a objectivity and a externality. Li gets a subjectivity and a internality. There is an opposing relation between a liberal humanistic education theory and a romantical humanistic education theory, because a liberal one concerns mainly with objective knowledges involved reason, on the contrary, romantic one concerns mainly with a personal relevance involved life. Confucian humanistic education theory concerns with both mind and body, outer and inner of human. Confucian one have a objectivity and a personal relevance. The confucian one embraces both the liberal one and romantic one.
