The main goal of this study is to investigate the possibility of phenomenological approach to understanding lived world of children's personal experience as supplements to the traditional empirical research. The necessity of the study on the phenomenological approach to understanding the lived world of children's personal experience is justified on the basis of the two facts : One is the growing recognition of the limitation and problems of the traditional empirical approach. Another is the increasing awareness that the phenomenological perspective and methodology, and its applicability to the educational practice. To achieve the goal this study has analyzed Saint-Exupéry's 『Le Petit Prince』 in the view of the phenomenological perspective and methodology. Saint-Exupéry, as French novelist, has introduced the essentials and meanings of children's personal experience in his work. The author has demanded the reader(adults) serious reflection. In so doing he has given the reader a living witness about children. According to existential phenomenologists' contention the literature can release of routinism(idée fixés) and make intersubjective experience with others. In fact Saint-Exupéry has suggested that the intersubjective experiences were possible and the adult can understand the meanings of children's personal experience. His perspective also moves to suggest systemetically the literal grounds not only for phenomenological existentialism, but for educational dimension. The conclusion of this study may be summarized as follows : First, the world of children's personal experience will not investigate any planned or controlled methodologies as traditional emperical study of human individual. Second, the world of children's personal experience can be understand to describe any phase of children's experience involved in the process of creation and appreciation of the literature. Third, Saint Exupery's approach to the world of children's personal experience is to be understood as a phenomenological perspectives for all those reasons used to justify 『Le petit Prince』 of proposed changes in the behavioral research of the children. Four, the world of children's personal experience refers to phenomenological education doctrine, developed primarily in Germany an France as an alternative description of children's nature and conduct to that provided by the methods of scientific induction. Reflecting on the Saint-Exupéry's work 『Le Petit Prince』 we find that the message of the author has been clear. One may find his work too fond of paradox, too crictical of the adult's routinism(idée fixés) and too willing to aprreciate the world of children;s personal experience to which the reader respond it seems to them the most foundmental problems of children's existence as a unique person may best be formulated in terms that transcend the ordinary of traditional emperical study. In so doing Saint-exupéry makes an important contribution in insistently raising the issue of the understanding of children's experience.
