영문초록

The systems approach offers a real, and as yet somewhat untried, potential for improving the practice of educational administration. This approach offers a perspective for the administrator that, in and of itself, can facilitate his works. The systems approach has resulted in numerous techniques, procedures, and methodology that can greatly relieve many of the complex aspects of educational mangement. The writer in this paper has attemped ⑴ to set forth the general concepts of the systems approach, ⑵ to identify the various forms thinking has taken, ⑶ to illustrate a number of specific sytems techniques that have a relevance for educational management, and ⑷ to discuss some of the major problems in applying the approach to educational field. The systems approach will help administrator to look at the totality of situations or problems, to take a long range view regarding his organization, to analyze consciously antecedent conditions and possible effects, to be cognizant of relations and connections in the organizational life, to utilize cost-utility approaches to choice, and to optimize for the total organization. His predictive power will hopefully be enhanced through a more skillful approach and an improved ability to deal with uncertainty. At the outset the bias of this presentation should be apparent but the systems approach has a great deal of promise for the study, development, and practice of educational administration. The writer has also cautioned the foreseeable dysfunctional practices which may accompany the sytems movement in education and may hamper the true spirit of the movement.
