The purpose of this study was to investigate the types of editorial system that children, parents, and experts like in picture books for children. The subjects were 445 children, 330 parents, and 75 experts. The contents consisted of book type(size and shape), typography(size and face), color, illustration(styles of painting, degree of detail in sketch, materials of expression), and character. The instruments for this research were twenty picture books, fourteen letter cards, twelve color cards, two kinds of rough sketch, four kinds of illustration card, five kinds of character card, and five kinds of questionaire. For data analysis, basic statistics and x^2 were used. The results of the analysis can be summarized as follows; 1. For book type, in size, 297mm x 210mm was prefered to the other size, in shape, bear was the best. Specifically speaking, children prefered 257mm x 188mm in size and bear in shape, parents 257mm x 188mm in size and bear in shape, and experts prefered 257mm x 188mm in size and bear in shape. 2. For typosize, generally, 22 point was prefered to other size. Specifically speaking, children prefered 22 point, and parents and experts 26 point. For typoface, generally, Taemyeongzo was prefered to Dinaru. Specifically speaking, children preferred Dinaru, and parents and experts Taemyeongzo. 3. The preference for color was yellow•red color in general. Specifically speaking, children prefered yellow•pink•red, though parents guessed that their's children liked red•yellow•blue. 4. Generally, the preference for styles of painting to illustration was Realistic Mode. Specifically speaking, children prefered Graphic, parents Realistic Mode, while experts liked Expressiona Mode. Degrees of detail in sketch was prefered Realistic Photograph in general. Specifically speaking, children prefered graphic, parents Realistic Photograph, while experts liked Simple Line Drawing. Materials of expression in illustration was prefered in order material of plane and cubic, material of plane, material of cubic. Specifically speaking, children preferred material of cubic, parents and experts prefered material of plane and cubic. Especially, the preference of material of plane was generally acrylic paint. Specifically speaking, children and parents prefered acrylic paint, while experts did water-color paint. 5. For character, generally, the rabbit among animals, the dragonfly among insects, the chick among birds, the crab among fishes, and the robot among others preferred significantly.
