This study aimed to review the effects of a group play therapy program on the
stress, depression, and self-esteem level of the children with disabled siblings. The
subjects were 26 children with disabled children, third to sixth graders in elementary
school, 13 of whom were assigned into the control group and another 13 into the
experiment group. From January 3rd, 2011 to March 26th, 2011, 23 sessions of group
play therapy were carried. Before and after the program, the subjects were given the
tests of their stress, depression, and self-esteem. The results showed the group play
therapy program lowered their stress and depression level and enhanced their
self-esteem. These results will be able to be used as base data to help the psychosocial
adaptation of the children with disabled siblings.
