The purpose of this study is to verify the impact of discrimination experience of disabled wage workers
on job satisfaction, focusing on the mediating effect of self-esteem.
For this purpose, the 5th year data from the Disabled Employment Panel Survey conducted by Korea
Disabled People's Development Institute was used. The analysis targeted 1,089 out of 1,094 wage workers
from the disabled employment panel, except those whose data were missed.
According to the analysis result, the mediating effect of self-esteem between discrimination experience
of wage workers at work and job satisfaction was statistically significant at both of the second and third
stages of verification, and there was a mediating effect of self-esteem between discrimination experience
and job satisfaction.
Based on these results, this study proposed various capability reinforcement programs to improve
self-esteem when job satisfaction is low, due to lots of discrimination experience at work, and political
and practical implications to enhance job satisfaction of wage workers.
